Jan Philipp Payonk is the Winner of the ICEAA – IEEE APWC 2024 Young Scientist Award!

We are very proud to announce that Philipp Payonk, doctoral researcher in subproject A02 of our CRC 1270 ELAINE, was awarded the Young Scientist Award at this year’s joint conferences, International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA) and IEEE-APS Topical Conference on Antennas and Propagation in Wireless Communications (IEEE APWC; https://www.iceaa-offshore.org). The 2024 edition of ICEAA - IEEE APWC was held from the 2nd to the 6th of September 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Philipp received the ICEAA - IEEE APWC Young Scientist Award for presenting and authoring the best ICEAA or IEEE APWC paper in terms of content and impact on Electromagnetics. His award-winning paper is entitled "Evaluating the Impact of a Complex Volume Conductor Model on Network Dynamics for Deep Brain Stimulation".

This paper presents a computational study on deep brain stimulation (DBS), emphasizing the impact of combining an advanced volume conductor model with a biophysical network model. The study highlights how DBS can help restore normal brain activity in the striatum by simulating its effects on neural dynamics at both macroscopic and microscopic scales.

We congratulate Jan Philipp Payonk on winning the ICEAA - IEEE APWC 2024 Young Scientist Award!
