ELAINE PhD student Lisa Schöbel begins research internship at Stanford University

We are pleased to announce that Lisa Schöbel, ELAINE PhD student based at the Institute of Biomaterials, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, has started a research internship at the Shriram Center for Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering, Stanford University, USA.
Lisa is supervised by Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini and her PhD project is in collaboration with Prof. Hermann Seitz and Christian Polley in the framework of the  German Research Foundation (DFG)-funded Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1270 ELAINE - Electrically Active Implants. During this research stay at Stanford, in the group of Prof. Prof. Zhenan Bao, Lisa is investigating the production of soft bioelectronics using electrically conductive hydrogels with tissue-adhesive properties. The resulting devices will be characterized in terms of their stimulation performance depending on composition and geometrical features such as dimensions and thickness. This research stay is part of the doctoral training program within the CRC 1270 ELAINE project. We congratulate Lisa on having secure funding from ELAINE and the international visiting scholarship of the Faculty of Engineering, which supports excellent young female scientists.
